Courses
In 2017, the Central Directorate of Country House Museums in Hungary, with the support of the Ministry of Human Capacities launched an accredited professional training course entitled Open Air Museology and Country House Museum Training. The training takes place at two locations, at the Hungarian Open Air Museum in Szentendre and the Open Air Ethnographic Collection in Szenna. During the 60-hour training, participants take part in theoretical and practical training aimed at helping staff with typically complex tasks in today’s changing museum world. They get an idea of how to carry out high-quality professional work, convey value, thus implement modern programmes, exhibitions, and other museum services, and indirectly have a positive effect on visitors' learning habits, museum experience, personal relationship with museum content in open air ethnographic museums and in the world of country house museums. This training is organised for the fourth time in 2020 in collaboration with the Museum Education and Methodology Centre.
Furthermore, in 2020 we are going to launch our 60-hour accredited blended (e-learning and classroom) Country House Museum Rapporteur Training, which aims to provide rapporteurs with theoretical and practical knowledge related to helping the work of country house museum leaders. To be able to set up and operate country houses, they must acquire professional knowledge and be able to pass it on to the governing bodies.
